Meet Your Area H Director: Greg Turquand!

Hello,

I am Greg Turquand, your Area H Director. I have lived in my current Del Rey home since ’95 and have spent all but six years of my life in Westchester, Culver City, and Del Rey. I grew up surfing at Toes Beach and riding at the MDR equestrian stables that were behind The Shack in Playa Del Rey.

My wife and I have been married for 32 years and we have a wonderful 22-year-old daughter who is currently a student at Cal St. Dominguez Hills. We are also the proud owners of two terrific Golden retrievers, Ozzy and Bailey.

I am a partner in a firm that imports activated carbon that is used by the water treatment industry for drinking water and environmental remediation. I am an avid USC and LA Rams football fan. When it comes to the other sports, its Kings, Dodgers, and Lakers. I have also played lead guitar in a few different classic rock bands and a couple of original bands as well.

I ran for the Del Rey Neighborhood Council because some neighbors asked me to. Our area was going through some tough issues and they felt I may be able to serve. As someone who basically ran on a single issue, I have been pleasantly surprised to learn all that the neighborhood councils do for an area and how important they really are as a liaison between the residents and the city government.

Area H is an incredible little pocket of Del Rey-- the hidden gem in my opinion. The residents, both new and those that have been here for decades, are some of the nicest people you would ever want to call neighbors. Playa Del Rey Elementary school is one of the finest LAUSD has to offer. And our proximity to the Ballona Creek Bike Path is second to none.

National brands like Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, and Home Depot also reside here. Kaiser Permanente serves the members who live in Del Rey. We also have a diverse selection of local businesses, from doggy day care, dance studios, gyms, auto repair and even amazing fish tacos can be had from locally owned businesses all here in Area H

Come on by Area H and see all that it has to offer--good folks, good food, and good times.
